Besides breathtaking scenery, the region abounds with some of New Zealand's best fishing rivers and lakes and it is also considered the walking capital of the New Zealand with dozens of well maintained walking tracks nearby including the renowned Milford Track, Routeburn Track and the Kepler Track.
